PROGRAM MANDATORY ORIENTATION

Once accepted for enrollment into the Associate Degree or Vocational Nursing Programs, attendance at the Program Orientation is mandatory for all students. If the student does not attend or does not notify the Health Sciences & University Programs office, their space will be given to the next alternate.

Students will be notified of the date and time for the Program Mandatory Orientation via email or US Mail.  The Orientations are scheduled in the semester prior to that for which the student is scheduled to be enrolled.

1st Thursday & Friday in May for fall semesters
1st Thursday & Friday in December for spring semesters

Students are instructed to confirm their attendance at the Mandatory Orientation:

  • For Spring 2011 semester - Mandatory Orientation Confirmation - Dec. 2 & 3, 2010
  • For Fall 2011 semester - Mandatory Orientation Confirmation - May 4 & 5, 2011
Orientation sessions are scheduled from 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM with registration starting at 7:45 AM

For illness or other unavoidable circumstances, the student must notify the Health Sciences & University Programs office by 7:30 AM the day of orientation to retain class enrollment.

With the notification of date and time, students will be instructed to review the Student Handbook for their program and complete forms that are required prior to beginning classes.

Commiting to the Nursing program is an important investment in the future.  Therefore, in preparation for beginning the ADN program, students are directed to the Time Commitment for Nursing and to print out and complete a Time Commitment Schedule Planner.  Students should bring the completed schedule to Mandatory Orientation.

In preparation for the 1st semester of the Associate Degree Nursing program, students are given Pre-Class assignments that are required to be completed prior to the first day of class.

Occasionally there are students who have applied to the Associate Degree Nursing program who have had formal classes in the content contained in REGN 1 & REGN 2.  These students may challenge the courses through a written and clinical examination.   For eligibility requirements and process, students may review  ADN Enrollment Practice Policy .

Students who believe they may be eligible to challenge the REGN 1/REGN 2 courses may review the course content to assist them in deciding to challenge the courses.

In preparation for beginning their course work, the nursing students may wish to review the Student Resources for further information and helpful hints.
