The educational objective of the Associate in Science Degree Nursing program is to prepare the student who, upon graduation and successful completion of the NCLEX-RN, will be able to function as a Registered Nurse (RN) within the scope of nursing as defined by the State of California Nursing Practice Act.
(NOTE: The NCLEX-RN licensing examination requires an applicant have a high school diploma or its equivalent.)

Students, at their expense, are required to have a physical examination and demonstrate proof of immunity prior to entering the Associate Degree Nursing program. Students must meet established physical criteria to participate in the clinical area and have a current Basic Life Support--Health Care Provider card (two-person rescue and infant resuscitation). Students must also comply with drug testing and background clearance requirements for clinical placements.
